Dr Julie Robson, Head of Strategic Management in the BU Business School, has been elected President of the Bournemouth branch of the Chartered Insurance Institute (CII). |
The role of CII President runs for one year, from March 2007.
In taking up this position Dr Robson aims to establish closer links between the Business School and local insurance companies and brokers.
In doing so she hopes to raise awareness of the Business School’s new Centre of Excellence in Enterprise Risk, which will be launched later this year.
The CII is a well established professional body that can trace its roots back to 1873, when the first institute was established in Manchester.
Today the CII is the premier professional organisation for those working in the insurance and financial services industry.
It is dedicated to promoting higher standards of competence and integrity through the provision of relevant qualifications for employees at all levels and across all sectors.
The Bournemouth Insurance Institute currently has around 1,000 members.
Its main activities include CPD accredited lunchtime presentations on topical insurance themes and managing and supporting the provision of local examination facilities.
It also supports the Insurance Benevolent Fund, a registered charity providing help to the less fortunate amongst us who have at some time been associated with the insurance industry.
Dr Robson takes over the President role from Andrew Dawson from Ecclesiastical Insurance.
