BU Student ‘Fishing’ for Student Radio Award

Kathryn McDonald Bournemouth University student Kathryn McDonald is in the running for a prestigious Student Radio Award.


The 24-year-old from Forest Row near East Grinstead, East Sussex, who is just completing her Masters degree in Radio Production, is among six nominations for Best Comedy/Drama.

Her nominated production, entitled "Fishing for Love on the Net," is a four minute monologue that centres upon a man who is surfing the internet with the specific intention of finding a female companion.

Nominees from 22 student radio stations are in contention for this year’s Student Radio Awards.

The 11th Annual Ceremony, presented by Radio 1, will take place at the New Connaught Rooms in London on 9 November.

Kathryn’s programme can be heard via BU’s internet radio station BiRST – www.birst.co.uk – which broadcasts entirely on-line.

Listeners can choose from a range of pre-recorded programmes in a range of formats, from drama and features to comedy and music, with some programmes produced by international students in their own languages.
