Michael, who formerly served under both Margaret Thatcher and John Major, will give a lecture about his life and work, and sign copies of his latest novel First Lady.
His novel “House of Cards” launched the career of the villainous Francis Urquhart, one of the most memorable fictional characters of recent years, who was immortalised by Ian Richardson in three award-winning BBC TV series'.
Michael Dobbs’ lecture is scheduled for 7.00pm in the Coyne Lecture Theatre, part of the Thomas Hardy Suite on the University’s Talbot Campus.
Tickets are £2.00 each and available from branches of Waterstone’s at the University (Talbot Campus) and Castlepoint, Bournemouth.
Each ticket is redeemable against the purchase of a copy of First Lady.
During the 1980s and 1990s, Michael was Chief of Staff at Number 10 Downing Street and later Deputy Chair of the Conservative Party. He was also Deputy Chairman of Saatchi and Saatchi and has worked as a BBC TV presenter and columnist for The Mail on Sunday.
First Lady follows the transformation of an equally memorable character, Camilla Hastings, who turns from dutiful political wife to masterful manipulator of the entire political process at Westminster.
