BU is delighted to host the prestigious international conference Sounding Out 5. |
BU will play host to the world’s largest field of sound and audio academics and practitioners when the highly-acclaimed Sounding Out symposium takes up residence from 8-10 September 2010.
Now in its fifth year, this international event will be the major forum for discussion and interaction between sound artists of all kinds. The theme of this year’s conference is Soundworlds – Sonic Arts, Film and Radio and will attract talent from around the globe, offering perspectives ranging from the world of music, radio, film and sonic arts.
The conference has already secured high-profile keynote speakers, including award-winning international radio documentary-maker Kaye Mortley and French music composer and artist Jerôme Joy. While regretfully, composer Jonathan Harvey has had to withdraw on medical grounds, BU is delighted to announce that electro-acoustic composer Dr Karen Power joins the list of prestigious keynote speakers.
Conference organisers and accomplished academics Professor Seán Street and Dr Alain Renaud are both delighted that BU has the opportunity to host Sounding Out this year.
"This year's event brings a cast of keynote speakers each of whom have global reputations. The composer Jonathan Harvey and the radio producer Dirk Maggs, for example, are world leaders in their field, and also set the tone for the wide ranging interests of the conference” says Professor Street.
“If Sound is your area of interest - in any form - there is guaranteed to be something to enrich you and engage you at Sounding Out”.
Registrations are still being accepted for the Conference. For more information visit: http://soundingout.bournemouth.ac.uk/.
Prism Sound, distributors of SADiE editing software, a system widely used by the BBC and commercial radio industries, is one of the sponsors at this year’s event. They will be demonstrating the new SADiE 6 version at Sounding Out.
