The challenge for sustainable tourism is the key theme of a BU seminar aimed at practitioners, academics and researchers. |
BU is proud to present an International seminar and discussion forum on tourism sustainability and climate change, taking place on Wednesday 25 November at Talbot campus.
‘Sustainability, Climate Change and Tourism: Challenges posed by the global economic crises’, is a one-day seminar being hosted by the International Centre for Tourism & Hospitality Research, based within BU’s School of Services Management.
The on-going economic slow-down has raised concerns about the added challenges involved in implementing the Millennium Development Goals by 2015, the target set in 2000 by the United Nations.
Added to the impact of climate change, which poses severe challenges both for developed and developing nations, destinations and the tourism industry as a whole will be affected.
Experts comment both climate change and sustainability must be approached as a common challenge since both have several commonalities.
This cutting-edge discussion forum, involving leading tourism experts and professionals, aims to debate the current challenges facing sustainable development as well as climate change impacts in the context of tourism.
The forum, which consists of several advanced-level presentations, has received the attention of several key players including United Nations Educational Scientific and Cultural Organisation (UNESCO) and UN World Tourism Organisation.
The event will facilitate interactive discussion between the experts and the audience.
Where: Marconi Lecture Theatre. Talbot Campus, Bournemouth University
When: Wednesday 25 November 2009
