Wire launches brand new website Our student newspaper gets re-branded and interactive |
The exciting launch of a brand new website has taken Bournemouth Wire to a new level, making it fully interactive and easier for students to get involved.
The Wire is the Bournemouth University newspaper, run by the students, for the students.
The original student newspaper was established over a decade ago and has evolved, only recently being re-branded as Wire.
Wire sets out to showcase the work of budding student journalists, from top interviews with politicians such as George Galloway to all the latest news and entertainment.
The paper is managed by a small team of students from the BA (Hons) Multi-Media Journalism course and incorporates all the skills taught on the course, resulting in the paper being professionally produced to industry standards.
The new Wire website, supported and funded by The Centre for Excellence in Media Practice, now allows radio and TV packages to be broadcast online and has opened up opportunities for students from other courses to get their work published.
The Media School supports the newspaper and encourages all students to get involved and gain valuable experience in writing, design and layout in order to impress future employers.
Head of Journalism, David Bradshaw has seen the paper grow year after year. "It is really important for all journalism students to get involved with the Wire and assemble a portfolio of work aired in a real publication. Nothing impresses employers more than a portfolio of this kind."
