Paul Charles, Director of Corporate Communications at Virgin Atlantic delivers the first annual Marketing Communications Lecture. |
On Tuesday 6th February Paul Charles, Director of Corporate Communications at Virgin Atlantic, visited Bournemouth University to deliver the first annual Marketing Communications Lecture.
It was a thoroughly enjoyable evening, which saw the Marconi Lecture theatre full to the brim with the Wessex branch of the Chartered Institute of Marketing and Media School Marketing students and staff.
During the hours' seminar Paul explained how the comms climate had never been so tough in our 24/7 world and advised how advertising desperately needs to stand out form the noise and clutter of the rest.
He showcased many examples of Virgin Advertisements, explaining how Virgin differentiates from the rest and sets out to gain competitive advantage.
After a very informative lecture, a questions and answers session saw panel members such as Senior Marketing Lecturing staff and Senior chairs of CIM, answer various questions posed by TMS students in an honest, informal manner.
" Marketing at BU is obviously very strong. The calibre of the students and the course itself certainly does stand out from the rest." |
Paul Charles then went on to offer two return tickets for any destination around the world to the student who could name the three most recent destinations that Virgin have added to their route this year.
Emma Rice, a fourth year International Marketing Student was the lucky winner of this and said she planned to visit New York with her friend who is also a Marketing Student here in TMS.
"Whilst I have been here at BU, I have got a strong vibe of just how talented these students are. They have very committed young people who are willing to try new experiences. It is this attitude that will serve them well within the industry. Marketing at BU is obviously very strong. The calibre of the students and the course itself certainly does stand out from the rest. I was absolutely delighted to be invited to talk with these students here at Bournemouth University. It was a real privilege to share the secrets of Virgin to this countries future Marketers."

"We are always pleased to visit BU, being very proud sponsors of the MA Marketing. The strength of the Marketing and PR here at BU is exceptional. It is always very clear when the CIM visit BU, just how much they invest into their courses and students, as well as the credibility it has within industry. BU is certainly THE place to study PR and Marketing."
