Final year BA Multi-media Journalism students were given the opportunity this week to produce and perfect their own showreels. For those students aspiring to be TV reporters and presenters this is a vital attribute to their portfolio.

A session in the morning taught students the styles and conventions of showreels by looking at various good and bad examples.

In the afternoon it was the turn of the students to get in front of the camera where they were able to record clips for their own showreel in front of a variety of backgrounds including a daytime lifestyle show, a music or youth show, children's TV show and of course a news show.

Eleanor Simmons, a student who took part said: "It really helped me to understand how to make it as a TV presenter. I got some handy tips, and I got the chance to film a few bits for my own showreel."
