Chartered Institute of Marketing (CIM) praises Bournemouth University Marketing Students. |
It’s not every day that the leading professional body in marketing opens its doors and rolls out the red carpet to a group of students. That’s exactly what happened on 2 June, when the Chartered Institute of Marketing (CIM) welcomed ten students from Bournemouth University (BU) to its home at Moor Hall in Cookham.
The final year BA (Hons) Marketing students from BU’s Media School were invited to the CIM’s corporate HQ and conference facility in recognition of their management of the successful Mike Warne Annual Marketing Communications Lecture held in March 2011.
Rod Wilkes, Chief Executive of the CIM, who attended the Lecture with other Directors from the CIM, was so impressed with the students’ event management that he invited them to Moor Hall to recognise their achievement. On the day of the visit, the students were welcomed with a celebration lunch and given a tailored introduction to the CIM. Rod Wilkes personally thanked all of the team involved, commenting that he had been “blown away” by the quality and success of the event and was “incredibly impressed” with the students’ enthusiasm for marketing.
The BA (Hons) Marketing students were responsible for the highly successful Media School event that attracted headline speakers on digital marketing from Microsoft and leading creative agencies in the UK to speak to an audience of 300 marketing professionals, BU students and staff. It was the fifth time the Lecture has been jointly held by BU and the CIM and the first to be held in BU’s new Kimmeridge House lecture theatre.
During the visit, Directors and senior managers at the CIM introduced the group to the range of CIM membership, qualifications and training services available to students and to marketing professionals, followed by a tour of Moor Hall, the CIM centre of operations and conference/training facilities.
The ten students from BA (Hons) Marketing are Billie-Rose Boorer, Kayliegh Chapman, Emma Curran, Hamish Day, Gina Hollingdale, Sean Longstaff, Nick Osy de Zegwaart, Oliver Robinson, Stacy Sutcliffe and Amey White. They were accompanied on the day by Christine Boswell-Munday CIM South West Regional Director, Andy Parker, Chair of CIM Dorset branch, Colin Merrett, Associate Dean (CMC) and Graham Goode, Lecturer in Marketing Communications.
