BU Launches Groundbreaking Media Courses 2 March 2009 |
Bournemouth University has launched a series of exciting new short courses uniquely aimed at media professionals.
The courses are designed to offer total flexibility and fit around a busy working life. Students can choose to take individual short courses or follow a series of units, building up to a recognised post graduate qualification, such as an MA. Subjects on offer include Media Production, Computer Animation, Journalism, Marketing and Communications and Media Management.
The courses, run by the university's world-renowned Media School, offer up-to-date, industry-focused career development opportunities for professionals working across a range of media specialties.
Teaching draws on Bournemouth's wealth of media expertise and cutting-edge research. Sessions will be delivered by a mix of academics and leading industry professionals, ensuring relevance and focus on contemporary case studies and issues.
At the core of each short-course is a two-day 'creative retreat' in the attractive seaside town of Bournemouth, where students are encouraged to network with other professionals, as well as develop knowledge and skills in their specific area of study.
Additional sessions will be delivered in a dynamic online environment allowing students to share ideas and reflect on their own experiences as media professionals. At every stage students are given the help and support of Bournemouth's highly qualified teaching staff.
The Media School at Bournemouth University is the largest centre of professionally based Higher Education for the media and communications industries in the UK. Postgraduate Teaching has been assessed as 'excellent' by the Quality Assurance Agency and many areas of the school's research has been rated as world class.
The Media School is the UK's only officially designated "Centre for Excellence in Media Practice" and is also an accredited Skillset Screen and Media Academy. These endorsements firmly establish the School as a major education centre for the media industries.
