Meet the Professionals

An opportunity for media-based students from the South to meet and talk informally with a range of high level media professionals.

Wed March 9th 2:00pm - 6:00pm Kimmeridge House, Talbot Campus, Bournemouth University.

2:00pm -TV’s Changing Practices

A panel session providing an up to date view on how programmes are getting commissioned, made and distributed and how people get to work on them. Taking part will be:

Alex Connock – MD Ten Alps Productions -Co-founded Ten Alps 1999 with Bob Geldof, which includes indies Brook Lapping, Films of Record, Below the Radar, Ten Alps Aisia, and Blakeway making agenda-setting TV output for BBC, Channel 4 and other channels. Alex is a NESTA mentor to start up media companies and is on the Executive Committee of the Edinburgh Television Festival.

George Dixon – newly appointed Controller of Channel Management at Channel 4, working with Jay Hunt to look after scheduling for all the C4 channels and heading up the international acquisitions team. Formerly channel scheduler at the BBC. He is a former Bournemouth University BATV graduate.

Zam Baring – Managing Director, Keo Films – producers of programmes by Hugh Fearnley-Whittingstall. Zam trained as a film editor in a commercials house in Soho. He has edited many documentary series for broadcasters in the UK and abroad. He joined KEO in 1997 and finally left the edit suite in 2007 to concentrate on the day to day running and development of the company.

Rhian Griffiths – Line Producer on a range of TV dramas including Just William. She is a former Bournemouth University BATV graduate.

 

3:30 – 6:00pm -Refreshments and informal opportunities to Meet the Professionals.

The panel will be joined by a range of media professionals from the South who will be available to talk informally with all those present. Currently we are expecting personnel from the following organisations to be present.

Topical Television, Talent TV, BBC South, ITV Meridian plus others yet to register.
