Ian Callum, one of the foremost designers in the automotive industry will be hosting the preview night of this year's graduating students design show. |
The Festival of Design and Innovation brings together final year students' invention designs and prototypes, in a showcase of talent, entrepreneurial spirit and originality.
The exhibition, which runs for several days also provides a platform for potential investment of those projects considered commercially viable, with several previously successful products chosen to go to market. In the past, external organisations looking to develop the next 'must-have' item have funded; 'The Quick Pitch' pop up tent licensed by Gelert and the BioLogic? ZorinPump, a bicycle pump sold to Dahon Incorporated, the world's largest manufacturer of folding bicycles.
This year students will have the chance to learn from the best, with Ian Callum giving his advice to the budding designers of the future. His extensive career in automotive design earned him the prestigious title of Honorary Fellow of the Institution of Engineering Designers. Today Callum, who is currently Chief Designer at Jaguar, is one of the most distinguished and well respected minds in the design industry. His international acclaim was largely achieved through the infamous Aston Martin designs for the DB7, Vanquish and V8 Vantage, as well as several Jaguar models more recently including the XK, XKR and XF.
Whether you are currently in business, are a budding designer or entrepreneur, or simply wish to enjoy a superb exhibition of innovative designs, the Festival will offer an excellent array of new design concepts from a range of different courses.
