BU graduate on the Board of AFC Bournemouth

Former Leisure Marketing student Rob Mitchell has been appointed to the Cherries’ Board of Directors.

Rob graduated from BU in 2003 with a 2:1 in Leisure Marketing and has been the Commercial Director at AFC Bournemouth since 2008. He was involved in the sponsorship deal with Seaward and was invited to the board by Chairman Eddie Mitchell, who is of no relation, in December.

After graduating Mitchell secured a job at Northampton Town Football Club generating funding for the community department, he then became Sponsorship Manager at Southampton FC before moving on to the Cedar Group, then his role as Commercial Director at AFC Bournemouth.

He said :“I’m delighted to be appointed to the board of directors at AFC Bournemouth. I studied at Bournemouth University between 1999 and 2003 and graduated with a 2:1 in BA Honours Leisure Marketing. This Degree gave me knowledge in a number of diverse units, and without this, I would not have learnt a variety of marketing skills and theory to secure a career in professional football. The Leisure Marketing Degree also offers a year’s work placement, which gave me vital experience in business to include on my CV and help secure a job when I graduated”.
