Making Waves Travel & Accommodation Information

Bournemouth is located on the South West coast of the UK, and is just over 100 miles from London. The town benefits from excellent road, rail and air links – look at the Getting to BU page for more information.

The conference will take place at the University’s Executive Business Centre (EBC). It is located at the centre of the town’s commercial district.

By Road

To reach Lansdowne Campus from the North or the East, leave the A338 at the junction marked Travel Interchange onto St Paul’s Road, then take St Swithuns Road. At the roundabout at the end of St Swithuns Road take the right-hand exit which will bring you onto Christchurch Road (B3066) where the buildings that comprise the campus are located.

From the West follow the directions to Talbot Campus but proceed past the University on the A3049 (this becomes Talbot Avenue). Next take the Wimborne Road (A347), then the Lansdowne Road (B3064) to continue onto Christchurch Road (B3066).

All external visitors to the Lansdowne Campus with unreserved parking are advised to use on-street parking (time limited) or the area is well served by public (pay and display) car parks within easy walking distance of all University buildings.

Rail

The nearest station to the University is Bournemouth. The journey by fast train from London takes approximately an 1 hour, 50 minutes. There are also regular trains from the UK’s other major cities.

Getting to the Lansdowne Campus:

Buildings on the Lansdowne Campus are a five-minute walk from the railway station (see Lansdowne Campus map).

By Air

Bournemouth has its own airport, with flights from a limited number of European destinations. Bournemouth airport is 8km from Bournemouth town centre, with bus and taxis available at the airport. Other airports in the UK are well connected to Bournemouth by rail, and have flights from more destinations. These are Southampton Airport (45km), London Gatwick (127km), London Heathrow (130km), London Luton Airport (166km), Birmingham International Airport (192km), London Stansted Airport (235km), Manchester Airport (294km).
