BU graduate’s coding work makes a big impression on the Google Development team.

Rob Silverton, alumnus of the BA (Hons) Digital Media Design course has made a big impression on the Google Development team with his coding work.

Rob recently wrote a blog post which he shared through social media, regarding how he has ported a 3D javascript framework over to Google’s new Dart language.

The Silicon Valley search engine is aiming for Dart to become the future programming language of choice for web applications, games and entertainment. The Google Development team described Rob’s work as “awesome” and went on to share his work in the “best of” section on Google+.

Since graduating Rob won the British Interactive Media Association student award in 2003. Initially he worked as a freelance developer before setting up his own Internet Software development company called “Unwrong” in Brighton with fellow BU graduate Jonathan Pace and his brother Ed. Unwrong have since worked with clients such as Reebok, Samsung Music, Doritos, Ben Ten, Moshi Monsters and Honda, specialising in games and entertainment solutions.

Based on the viral success of the code, Rob stated, “I would bet on Dart with HTML5 over competing technology like Flash, Silverlight, Unity3D or any other browser plug-in, as the future of web, games or mobile development.”
