Field School Open Day See what goes on during a field school  

Deep in the heart of the Gloucestershire Cotswolds, Professor Tim Darvill's new field school at Wiggold Farm, on the Abbey Estate Cirencester is already revealing fantastic evidence of prehistoric activity including unexpected quantities of pottery, animal bones, structures and features.

BU students and volunteers from Bristol, Oxford and Durham Universities have been processing a wealth of excavated cultural and environmental material on an estate that includes extensive Prehistoric, Roman and Medieval occupation and the discovery of a hitherto unrecorded long barrow.

Students will be welcoming visitors to the site on a Public Open Day on Saturday 14th July from 10-4pm. and leading activities encompassing pottery making, geophysics, finds processing, environmental sampling, prehistoric fire making and kiln firing.
